Sixteen Years of Unlocking Phones — It Started With an HTC HD2

Before the iPhone took over, there was the HTC HD2 — a Windows phone that was never supposed to run anything else. I put Android on it.
That is where this started. Not as a business, but as somebody who wanted to make a phone do something the carrier said it could not do. Figuring that out is how I became a developer.
Windows, then Android, then iPhone
Windows phones gave way to Android. Android gave way to iPhone. Sixteen years later the job has not really changed: getting a device to do what its owner already paid for it to do.
